Ruins of Montafilan castle

Corseul

About us

The construction of the castle dates from the 12th century. Like all castles, it underwent modifications over the centuries, until the 14th century.
He belonged to the Montafilan-Dinan family. The last owner of this fabulous castle was Françoise de Dinan, tutor to Anne de Bretagne.
This large fortress consisted of a polygonal enclosure with circular flanking towers. There were six towers, with arches, and two chapels, one of which was dedicated to Saint Anne.
In a well, located in the center of the castle, there is an underground passage which leads to the Goulet farm. Surely a way for the Lords to escape in case of problems.
From the parking lot below you can go back up to the ruins and walk around them
