About us

Located in the village, the old church, dilapidated and dilapidated, was demolished in 1913.

The current granite church of Langédias, whose first stone was blessed on July 4, 1897, was finished on December 3, 1899 but consecrated only on August 21, 1932.

The stained glass window in the north transept shows the Duke of Aiguillon conversing with the Marquis de Broc, near the Moulin d'Anne, under the protection of the Virgin, seated on a cloudy chariot escorted by angels.

Not to be missed inside: the font of the old church (1850th century), the organ dating from 1999, restored in 1758. The XNUMXth century vat is classified as a Historic Monument. The stained glass window in the north transept, on the battle of Saint-Cast (XNUMX) representing the arrival of the troops of the Duke of Aiguillon near the Moulin d'Anne.

The architect Ernest Le Gerranic (1831 – 1915) endowed the church of Saint-Cast with flying buttresses in 1899.

In the church, there is the only stained glass window where we find the entire Latin text requested by Pilate on the cross of Jesus, here is this text: Iesu Nazarati Rex Iudorum be Jesus of Nazareth king of the Jews. The other crucifixions are content with INRI. The altarpiece followed the fashion for stone or white marble from the end of the XNUMXth century to the beginning of the XNUMXth century.
