Covered walkway of Bois Rocher

Vicomté-sur-Rance

About us

Away from the village of Vicomté-sur-Rance, the covered alley of Bois Rocher is an ancient burial site dating from the Neolithic period.
Oriented on a roughly east-west axis, it stretches over 11,50 m in length and 1,20 m in width.

It has retained two covering tables, one of which is in place (length 2,65 m, width 1,40 m and thickness 0,55 m).

The monument was excavated in 1873 by M. de Boïshue who found a polished diorite axe, cut quartz tools and pottery shards. There is a plan noted in 1878 by Pitt-Rivers.
