Discover the collectives of artists and craftsmen

The association Art Dinan brings together artists and craftsmen with a workshop open to the public all year round in Dinan, by appointment. We went to meet them by walking through the city's maze of alleys!

During our passage in the Grand Rue, we pushed the doors of the Jerzual Color Collective, an associative shop which welcomes about twenty Breton artisans.

Direction then Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, where The Plessix-Madeuc workshops work daily to support young visual artists by promoting encounters between the public and creators. In particular, the association sets up programs for artist residencies and the dissemination of works. Meetings are organized throughout the year:

A small designer boutique catches our eye as soon as we arrive in Evran. Ty'Artisans brings together the creations of various local artists and artisans. You can find jewelry, ceramics, spreads and children's clothes there.

Push the doors of a workshop-gallery

In addition to its historical heritage and its exceptional nature, Dinan-Cap Fréhel is full of artistic souls and places to showcase its creativity. Painting is one of the arts in Dinan-Cap Fréhel that is on the rise!

We pushed the doors of one of the many galleries of the territory to contemplate the work of local artists.

Located on the church square of Plurien, the charming Orfeu studio-gallery invites us to succumb to the charm of the paintings, lithographs, photographs and ceramics of the painter Athali. Finding it couldn't be simpler! All you have to do is spot the blue woodwork on its front.

We then plunged into the colorful world ofSteve's workshop and his inspiring paintings. Then head to the studio gallery of Jean-Patrick Poiron, rue du Jerzual, where sculpture comes in all its forms. Wood, terracotta, metal, bronze or stone are all materials used by the artist to create his figurative works inspired by the living body, space and movement. Dream and reality, heritage and present come together within the walls of this workshop!

Meet committed artists

Art in Dinan-Cap Fréhel also knows how to go green! We went to meet passionate artists who recycle materials or bring waste to life.

1 / Anne and Pauline's bags the Châtelet Workshop in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, are unique creations made from recycled sails. Collected from sailing schools or private homes in Côtes-d'Armor, the material is cut, washed and then dried before coming back to life during assembly. Each sail being unique, the bags are all very different, ready to accommodate the children's beach towels, shovels and buckets. Anne and Pauline redouble their creativity to include their art in an approach that respects the environment!

2/ Beaches etc  : In her Breton workshop, Valérie makes bags, shopping bags, cushions, quilts, household linen, curtains… using an artisanal technique. It is part of an eco-responsible approach by choosing local recycled fabrics. His creations give a second life to noble and unalterable materials from French weaving.

Learn about the art of pottery

It was in Corseul that we stopped to reveal our artistic soul! From initiation to improvement, Sandra's pottery offers turning or modeling courses for all levels.

Neither one nor two, we put on our blouses and we get to work. Vase, suspension, abstract or realistic creation, everyone shapes their own ceramics. While some are trying their hand at modeling by addition, others are learning enamel decoration.

The pottery workshop is coming to an end! If we have not yet become masters in the art of ceramics, we are rather proud of our creations. It must be said that Sandra was able to share her traditional know-how with us while showing great indulgence regarding the quality of our achievements… One thing is certain, we had a lot of fun putting our hands in the ground!
