The Rance Valley

The La Rance river and its valley

The Rance has its source at Collinée (about 40 minutes south-west of Dinan) and empties into the English Channel between Dinard and Saint-Malo.

Sometimes winding river, sometimes channeled, sometimes maritime river, the Rance offers a variety of landscapes which extend from north to south of the Dinan-Cap Fréhel destination. It is bordered by multiple locks (Léhon, Evran, Pont-Perrin, etc.) and numerous ports, providing so many places to stop for a bucolic and soothing break.

The Rance grows, widens as it approaches the sea, we then speak of the Estuary of the Rance.

A valley with many faces

Sometimes rural, sometimes urban, sometimes wild, sometimes maritime, the Rance Valley is ideal for discovering the fauna and flora, boat trips (whether you are a passenger or driver), walks ou by bike on the towpath or even fishing…

It is also a green lung at the foot of the City of Art and History that is Dinan : a place where peace, calm and tranquility reign.
