On the sea side, pass into Rance via the Barrage de la Rance lock, an EDF tidal power plant which exploits the resources of the strong tides rushing into the estuary to produce electricity.
From the Rance Dam to the medieval city of Dinan, nature and history rival each other in charm. Here a fishing village, there an old castle or a Malouinière; here again the river becomes a lake, then a canal bordered by sheer cliffs... Dinan appears with its picturesque streets, its half-timbered houses, its doors and its craftsmen's shops.
