The maritime Rance tour

Saint-Samson-sur-Rance

About

  • 27 Km
  • Difficult

This hike of about 27 kilometers, ideal for a weekend hike, takes the coastal path from one bank to the other of the Rance maritime. Departing from La Hisse in Saint-Samson-sur-Rance, left bank, which marks the boundary between the river Rance and the maritime Rance, the route runs along the banks of the Rance towards the estuary. The crossing of the Rance is carried out by the Saint-Hubert bridge, with its splendid panorama, both downstream and upstream. On the right bank, the maritime marsh of Pleudihen then runs for several kilometres, before reaching the hold of Mordreuc. The route continues in the narrow part of the river, to the port of Lyvet in Vicomté-sur-Rance. The road allows you to cross the Rance again to reach the starting point.

Along the way, the route offers a maritime atmosphere by following shores, bypassing small inlets and crossing slipways and maritime structures...

Please note: the coastal path has steep parts: caution is required and it is advisable to walk away from the edges. On the right bank of the Rance, you take "the servitude of passage on the coast", which is marked out. It may happen that portions of paths are flooded in the event of very high water levels in Rance and therefore impassable. Plan to find out about the water levels in Rance.
