For a bucolic and soothing break, enjoy a day in the Rance Valley, between hikes and boat trips.

Morning: hike on the banks of the Rance

It's decided, we're off to explore, but gently, on the Rance Valley and we discover the villages and small ports that mark it out. Sometimes maritime river, sometimes canal, the banks of the Rance offer a wide variety of landscapes to the delight of hikers. Little treasures await us along the way.

If we go up the channeled Rance, we linger at the many locks. With the lock No. 45 by Boutron in Calorguen, the lock No. 46 of Pont-Perrin in Saint-Carné or the No. 47 in Léhon with its Abbey in focus, the magic happens every time! Léhon, Small City of Character with bucolic charm delights us with its majestic Abbey and its gardens, the ruins of its feudal castle and its small village.

Still on the towpath, we take a break at Dinan to admire the port which comes alive with hikers, passing cyclists, arriving boats and restaurant terraces which fill up. The bravest will brave the magnificent rue du Jerzual to reach the medieval city of Dinan

We do not hesitate to push open the doors of the House of Rance. Young and old alike will discover the history and secrets of this river and its preserved fauna and flora.

A few kilometers from the port of Dinan, a break is essential to the Taden Plain, peaceful place for a picnic or to admire the local fauna and flora. If we continue on the towpath, we will arrive at the Port of Lyvet where theChâtelier lock marks the border between the river Rance and the maritime Rance, which is more subject to the tides.

A stopover at La Vicomté-sur-Rance is also possible, where you can understand the workings of a tide mill and its know-how of yesteryear, the Moulin du Prat, unique in Rance or towards the Cale de Mordreuc in Pleudihen-sur-Rance which offers a magnificent panorama of the Pehou Castle, private castle located in the town of Plouër-sur-Rance and straight ahead or the St. Hubert Bridge, one of the 3 bridges over the Rance.

Afternoon: boat trip

Let yourself be carried away by the waves of the Rance! By cruise ship, electric boat or kayak, let's go for a trip along the water, something to delight young and old alike. Meet at port of dinan or Saint-Samson-sur-Rance to find the boat on which to board for a nice trip on the Rance. Your choice: the tranquility of the Ille-et-Rance canal and its green flora or the river Rance, more bluish and with grandiose landscapes. After crossing the lock of Lehon, L 'Saint-Magloire Abbey and feudal castle ruins stand majestically in the small town. A one-hour walk in the heart of nature. If you prefer to discover maritime Rance, head for Saint-Malo and Dinard!
