Road trip in Brittany: the best of Dinan-Cap Fréhel in 5 stages! 🚐
Want to carve out the road? And if we opted for the Britain ? Land of legends and magnificent beaches, Dinan-Cap Fréhel has something magical! Choosing the option of a trip in a van or motorhome in Brittany means choosing to travel along beautiful roads, to stop wherever you want and to take the time to feel at home everywhere. 🥰
From the peninsula of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer to the medieval town of Dinan via the port of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, we take you on a road trip to Brittany in 5 legendary stages. By car Simone! 🚗
Step 1: Quiet at the Étang de Bétineuc 🧘
We start this road trip in Brittany gently with a quiet little corner of France: Bétineuc pond. A walking trail, a fishing site and a special freshwater marine beach... It's the perfect spot to break away from everyday life and start this trip off with a bang!
👌 Our advice for (really) breathing:
Swap the van for hiking shoes and walk around the pond: 3 km of pure happiness. And afterward, the little effort, the great comfort! Near the pond, a tavern awaits you for a gourmet break made in Brittany. Unless you want to borrow a bike from them to go around the pond in the other direction… 😏
Good to know: Wild camping is regulated in France. With a converted van, you unfortunately cannot spend the night anywhere. Remember to find out! And pay attention to the height of your van on the rest areas and the road (this could save you from unpleasant surprises 😏).
And for this first night in Brittany, where will we sleep?
(I.e.Bétineuc area, Saint-André-des-Eaux
A free parking space (limited to 72 hours) with, as a bonus, a picnic area!
Step 2: From the port of Dinan to the streets of Léhon 🦚
The next day, it was time to hit the road again. Direction the city of Dinan, the essential part of any self-respecting road trip in Brittany!
👍 Our program for a day of travel:
After leaving the van on theViaduct area, start this second stage of your road trip with a visit to Dinan. Cobbled streets and half-timbered houses, it feels like a town from the Middle Ages!
To make the day (a little) tougher, leave the van in Dinan and head towards Léhon, the Small City with a Strong Character. Don't worry, you don't need to be a great sportsman to reach the city on foot: 2 km of trail is just enough to stretch your legs! After a visit to Léhon and its imposing abbey, return to Dinan to conclude the day with a stroll on the port. What if we ended on a good note in a restaurant ? 🤤
The perfect place to park the van for the night:
📍Camping Municipal Chateaubriand, 103 Rue Chateaubriand, Dinan
A campsite at the foot of the ramparts, located 300m from the city center and the port… Well, that’s not great!
Step 3: Travel back in time to the Rance Valley ⏳
For this third day of road trip in Brittany, your itinerary takes you from surprise to surprise in the Rance Valley !
👏 Stages of the day:
1. La Vicomté-sur-Rance: Leave the van on the side of the road to observe the Moulin du Prat, a former 15th century tide mill, since renovated by a team of enthusiasts. A unique heritage in Rance!
2. Pleudihen-sur-Rance : Stop at the Mordreuc hold, with its beach and quays facing a medieval castle. We can say that we know how to combine fin and history in Brittany.
3.Plouër-Sur-Rance : this time, we swap the van for the canoe (or kayak, it's up to you). With Chill in Rance or Rance nautical center Frémur, go explore the Rance directly on the water. Perfect for refreshing yourself after a day on the road. Those nostalgic will undoubtedly prefer Mirrors, which will take you for a stroll on the Emerald Coast… by mobylette. You also go up the

☝️The commandments of a good road trip : “I remain discreet, I respect the place, I take my waste away and I park in spaces provided for this purpose.” Simple, precise, effective. Everything we love!
Step 4: charming walk from Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer to Saint-Cast-le-Guildo 🥰
So let’s go Emerald Coast! This fourth stage of your trip takes you to one of the most authentic villages in Brittany: Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer. Here, we park the van near one of the 11 beaches that line the peninsula, we wander through the streets... In short, we have fun.
🧭 The compass of the beaches of Saint-Jacut-de-la Mer:
The beaches of Arguenon Bay to the west, the hollow of Lancieux Bay to the east and Rougeret beach to the north are our big favorites. The bonus? The view of Pointe du Chevet, at the end of the peninsula. It's worth the detour ! 😍
Did you enjoy it? So get back in the van, we'll hit the road again Saint-Cast-le-Guildo. A family destination par excellence, the seaside resort invites you to relax for the rest of the day. Boat trip to the island of Ebihens or Saint-Malo, hiking to the Château de la Roche-Goyon, giant paddle, golf... You won't know where to turn during this road trip in Brittany!

Step 5: panoramas of Brittany from Cap Fréhel to Sables-d'Or-les-Pins ⛵
We didn't want this beautiful road trip in Brittany to end too quickly. So, for this last step, we cheated a little, since it was done in two days! 😀
After putting down the van at the Fosse car park (authorized only during the day), get on your bike or put on your hiking shoes to head towards the Cap Fréhel. 70 meters high, pink sandstone cliffs and above all a breathtaking panorama of the sea... We quickly forget the flow of time!
You are on a remarkable, but fragile site! For its preservation, remember to park in the appropriate places. Camping-caravanning is prohibited on the Grand site de France Cap d'Erquy-Cap Fréhel (Article R111-33 of the town planning code).
This time, it’s really the end of the trip… But what an end to this road trip in Brittany! 😍
Take the van one last time to go to Sables-d'Or-les-Pins and end your journey on one of the most beautiful beaches in Brittany. After a few hours of relaxing or trying your hand at surfing, consider taking a stroll through the wooded paths of the seaside resort. The 20s architecture that decorates the facades will transport you to another era!
