Brittany oysters, iodized varieties
A getaway in Brittany inevitably rhymes with tasting seafood. Suitable for farming oysters and mussels, our region is dotted with bouchots and parks. From the north to the south of Brittany, there are different varieties of oysters, each as tasty as the next. There are 12 Breton grands crus, produced from Cancale to the Gulf of Morbihan.
We melt for hollow oysters such as the Pleine Mer from the bay of Quiberon, a particularly iodized oyster. That of Paimpol is fleshy and has a strong taste. As for Penerfine, raised in the south of Brittany, it is characterized by its firmness and its fleshy side.
In addition to cupped oysters, you can also find delicious flat oysters with a sweet nutty taste. Among them, the Belon is one of the most delicate oysters in Brittany. Raised in the north of the region, it evolves in a mixture of fresh water and sea water.
The other variety of oysters is Horse's Foot (larger than flat oysters), subtle and slightly bitter.
