Ideas for circuits in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer

A peninsula surrounded by water, a cumulus of fine weather and a good group of friends: that was enough to convince us to explore the hiking trails of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer. It remains to choose the distance to travel! Rather 6 or 12 km? And why not both ?

Circuit 1: 6 km to discover the maritime heritage of Saint-Jacut

Let's go for a first loop of 6 km from La Poste de Saint-Jacut. Two hours of hiking await us and the magic is already happening.

To the west of the peninsula, the Bay of Arguenon gives pride of place to local know-how. We contemplate in the distance the oyster beds and the piles used to cultivate the bouchot mussels. Some producers get busy early in the morning while we (already) take a little break! The least we can say is that our first steps whet our appetite.

The rest of the hike still has its share of surprises in store for us! The interpretive panels along the circuit guide us to the east of Saint-Jacut. And we can say that on the peninsula, it's 2 coasts, 2 atmospheres! Here, the coastline shows itself in a whole new light. Beaussais Bay offers the ideal playground for indulging in all kinds of water sports.

Circuit 2: 12 km on the GR34 to go around the peninsula

Motivation is high! So why not take the opportunity to extend this hiking circuit in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer by going around the peninsula? The appointment is given in front of the Tourist Office. On the program: 3 hours of walking on the GR34, between intimate coves and wild beaches.

Our first steps lead us to the seafront. Immediately, the scene is set! Sometimes wooded, sometimes coastal, the path conquers us!

Follow the GR markings and enjoy the many viewpoints on the coast. After the port of La Houle Causseul, a parade of beaches, each one more beautiful than the other, awaits us. From Pissotte beach to Ruet beach, the walk is not lacking in perfect spots for lounging.

Circuit 3: Walk at low tide to the island of Ébihens

Want to take one last hiking trail in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer? Direction the Pointe du Chevet for an iodized stroll with the air of the end of the world. We left for a crossing with our feet in the water to the Ébihens archipelago.

This little private natural gem is only accessible at low tide! And to avoid getting stuck on the island, remember to check the tide times before the trip.

Wet feet and amazed eyes, we arrive on this little piece of land that looks like paradise. Confidential creeks and lush vegetation follow one another around the path that crosses the island.

It's hard to remain indifferent to the idyllic landscapes of Les Ébihens! The favorites are linked to the rhythm of our steps. Special mention for the Vauban Tower, one of the few visible traces of man on this preserved archipelago!

Payotte

Large soft armchairs and local jars, La Payotte has more than one trick up its sleeve! We love the view of the islets of Saint-Jacut and the guinguette spirit of the place. Rather summer salad or seasonal mussels? The fresh fruit cocktail goes wonderfully with both recipes anyway!
