Top 3 of the most beautiful walks
Si Brittany in winter evokes gastronomy and thalassotherapy more than outdoor walks, here is something to change your mind. On foot, by boat or by bike, we have criss-crossed the 3 most beautiful walks to do in Brittany in winter! It must be said that a cool walk is the best excuse to comfort yourself with a delicious Breton crêpe on the way back.
Breizh and pedal strokes from Matignon to Cap d'Erquy
What a privilege to pedal in the heart of the Grand Site Cap d'Erquy-Cap Fréhel in the middle of winter! The walkers of the summer period give way to the torda penguins, while the sandy coves are deserted. The conclusion is clear: we are alone on the road!
The rocky points, the transparent waters and the vertiginous points of view accompany us with each stroke of the pedal. If a few ribs put our calves to the test, almost the entire route does not present any great difficulty. An outing to do all the same between adults!
A pause is in order:- The seaside resort of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo
- The Roche Goyon castle (or Fort la Latte)
- The view over the Bay of La Fresnaye

From Cap Fréhel to Fort la Latte on the customs officers’ path
A camera, good shoes and a bottle of water, that's all we need for this walk in Brittany in winter. Once equipped, we leave the car in the parking lot near the Cap Fréhel lighthouse (paid parking: €3 for 3 hours). Let's go for a 2h30 round trip walk!
The first steps along the cliffs of Cap Fréhel remind us of the landscapes of the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. And yet! We are indeed on the Brittany coast, as evidenced by the small coves hidden below the pink sandstone cliffs.
After more than an hour of walking, the Roche Goyon castle (or Fort La Latte) is only a few meters away. This fortress has guided us since the beginning of the walk, and we were eager to find ourselves at its feet. It must be said that it is one of the symbols of Brittany!
What impressed us the most? Nature which seems to be reclaiming its rights over this listed monument. Doing this hike at the end of winter is the guarantee of not getting sunburned. We weren't too hot, even after more than 2 hours of walking!

All in the saddle from Dinan to Évran
When the end of winter comes in Brittany, we go to rent bikes on the port of Dinan. 24 km round trip await us for this family outing along the Ille-et-Rance canal. A cool start is an opportunity to warm up while pedaling. On your marks, get set, pedal!
We take the canal towpath to the town of Évran. The banks were developed in a Greenway accessible to experienced cyclists and beginners alike. Perfect for enjoying the joys of Brittany before the arrival of fine weather (and cyclists)!
The arrival in the village of Léhon, Small City of Character® is an opportunity to set foot on land. The whole family takes their hands off the handlebars to stroll for a few minutes through the cobbled streets of the Petite Cité de Caractère®. We push open the doors of Saint-Magloire Abbey before getting back on the saddle to reach the town of Évran.
Our tip:
If the children get tired of pedaling along the canal, you can take the loop that goes around the Bétineuc pond!
