What to do in Beaussais-sur-Mer?
The great game of local heritage? Hiding in the nooks and crannies of Britain !
To fill up on surprises and fresh air, Dinan-Cap Fréhel takes you to Beaussais-sur-Mer. Created in 2017, the commune which brings together the villages of Plessix-Balisson, Ploubalay and Trégon has more than one trick up its sleeve!
Unusual landscapes, unique adventures, delicious gastronomy and exceptional know-how, it's time to prepare your sneakers and your camera. Follow the guide: we have prepared a 5-step checklist for you so you don't miss anything in Beaussais-sur-Mer!
1. Admire the unusual landscapes of Brittany ✅
🌊 Dykes and tides: the polders of Ploubalay
Ploubalay is more than just a town. It is a little piece of authentic Brittany which hides an emblematic element of the natural heritage of Beaussais-sur-Mer: the polders. These expanses of land are bordered by dikes, in order to prevent the sea from entering them and to make better use of the riches of these marine lands.
Since then, nature has taken back its rights (and that makes us happy 😀). The polders hide exceptional fauna and flora in their tall grass. Area classified Natura 2000 since 2004, property of the Conservatoire du Littoral, migratory stopover place... It's a bit of the spot to go to admire the wild life of Brittany! 🥰

Appearances are sometimes deceiving… 👀
While polders may seem picturesque and peaceful, keep in mind that they can be dangerous: sea marshes can quickly overwhelm with the rising tide and trap the unwary. The ground may also become slippery. Also, remember to always stay on marked trails!
📍To see during your walk:
- Sheltered from the tides : don't miss this monumental work by Nancy Lamontagne, installed near the Maison des Marais.
- Brenan's Tower : Was she a telegrapher? A watchtower? No one knows! What we are sure of, however, is the breathtaking view it offers over the polders and the Bay of Beaussais.
The smart advice : To visit Brenan Tower, from March, meet every first Monday of the month between 14:00 p.m. and 15:30 p.m. Think of the binoculars! 😛
