Our 4 ideas for relaxing boat trips in Brittany
Here's a great idea for a relaxing day in Brittany! We gather our friends to organize a ride on the water ! It remains to agree on the itinerary… Here are some ideas!
Guided boat trip from Saint-Cast-le-Guildo to Cap Fréhel
First walk from Saint-Cast-le-Guildo towards Cap Fréhel! If we know this grandiose place very well thanks to the hike that crosses it (GR 34: elected favorite hike of the French), observing it from the boat is a whole different experience!
Neither one nor two, we embark on our ship for a boat trip with commentary through the landscapes of Brittany.
Along the walk, we follow the coast under the anecdotes and information of our guide Oh how remarkable!
Boat trip with stopover in Saint-Malo
This boat trip is a very original idea to visit the corsair city in Brittany, while enjoying the journey! During the crossing (50-60 minutes), we take the opportunity to admire the pink sandstone coast which gradually recedes.
In the distance, we can see our first stopover: the Grand Jardin Lighthouse ! Classified as a Historic Monument, this guardian of the Rance estuary is a perfect extra for a nice souvenir photo!
We embark again towards the beach of theisland of Cezembre for a striking encounter in the heart of the Bay of Saint Malo. Our guide tells us the dark history of the island, which was the most bombed place in Europe throughout the Second World War...
It's time to go back to the highlight of the show: the famous corsair city of Saint-Malo ! Here, we take the time to stroll along the ramparts, passing of course by its port!
A real taste of vacation in the heart of Brittany, what more could you ask for?
Would you like to go on one of these walks?
Boat trip to the rhythm of the birds
And if we combined the pleasure of the boat trip with the visit (or almost) emblematic monuments of the region ? Without hesitation, we opt for the guided tour towards Cap Fréhel and Fort la Latte.
During the walk, our guide points out that the cliffs are far from uninhabited...
In the distance, it indicates the presence of the famous herring gull with which we share the coast throughout the year.
He then takes the opportunity to tell us the fascinating story of the seabirds (and travelers) that come to the islets and continental cliffs of Cap Fréhel. “Listen” he tells us: the soundscape is simply amazing. Skimming the waves and the cliffs, the flight of birds is a spectacle that we admire even more fully with our binoculars… But we always keep our distance so as not to disturb them!
🦜 Advice to informed ornithologists : to observe the common guillemots between the cliffs, the guide advises us to come back between November and mid-July. For those who dream of coming across the penguin torda: be sure to come back between January and mid-July!
Embark with 49ème Parallèle Navigation, departing from the port of Erquy
Boat trips with floral scents
For a getaway to the tunes of elsewhere, head towards the island of flowers. Under this pretty name, hides the island of Bréhat with incomparable charm... If you are looking for a change of scenery, we strongly recommend this boat trip to discover a wonderful island of Brittany!
Let yourself be overwhelmed by the floral scent of mimosas, honeysuckle, roses, eucalyptus, ceanothus, echiums and agapanthus...

Rent a boat in Brittany
There's nothing like renting a boat for an outing in complete freedom in Brittany! Head for the port of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo to pick up our motor ship. We are 5, that's good, the boat can accommodate up to 7 people!
For this sea trip, we decide to follow the Emerald Coast towards Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer! On the way, we see walkers enjoying the large beach at Saint-Cast-le-Guildo... Arriving at Pointe de la Garde, we then continue along Pen Guen Beach and its immense expanse of sand Golden.
The sun is out: a little swimming break is a must! We decide to stop in the bay of Arguenon! From here, you can even see the Château du Guildo from the top of its rock!
That's it, we arrive at the Pointe du Chevet of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, where lovers of yachting are having a great time!
💡 To note :
- It is necessary to have the yachting license to rent a boat!
- Remember to contact the owner directly to book the boat: there is no agency in the port of Saint-Cast.

Boat trip at sunset
Immediate boarding for an unforgettable evening on the water!
It is in Erquy that Benjamin, the captain of the boat, welcomes us and equips us with a vest!
And off we go for a memorable boat trip, in the company of the setting sun. Fort la Latte and Cap Fréhel in sight, the light changes color as we progress: the pink sandstone cliffs on one side, the orange horizon on the other... It's simply majestic .
The walk ends under the starry sky and a nice moment shared, to recognize the Big and Little Dipper...
Hold the helm of a traditional sailboat
For an unforgettable session aboard a ship, we go for a traditional sailing initiation! On the program: a replica of a small trawler called the Dragous and 3 qualified sailors who are accompanying us for this afternoon. Before leaving, they advise us to put on warm and waterproof clothes (in addition to life jackets). Yes, even if the weather is good on land, the temperature at sea can sometimes be less clement!
The wind is perfect for our helmsmanship, the sea is calm, the sun is with us: it's a great experience that awaits us. We cast off and slowly exit the port of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo. We are at the helm!
The instructors explain to us that the helmsman must try to place the sail in the axis of the boat and must be concentrated on the waves (they can slow down the sailboat), the noise of the boat, the direction and the force of the wind. The steering compass allows us to keep the course while managing the navigation according to the wind.
If the handling is not obvious at first sight, we still begin to understand the ship. We leave in the direction of Cap Fréhel and Fort la Latte, and in turn, we experience the feeling of helmsman. A magical moment to share for a boat trip in Brittany!
