the best things to do
Going to Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer is sure to disconnect: this treasure of the Brittany coast is certainly one of the most authentic villages in the area. We share our little guide for a beautiful day in Saint-Jacut-de-la-mer!
Along the west coast of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer
To fully enjoy our day in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, we decided to take our time by making several stops!
First stop at the entrance to Saint-Jacut, at the Château de Guildo, an old medieval castle built between the 13th and 14th century which is worth a detour! On the way, we meet early risers who have also decided to take advantage of the calm and the beautiful morning lights for a gentle awakening.
Then head west of the peninsula to reach the first beaches. Once past Pointe de la Pépinais, the large fine sand beach is magnificent… As a bonus? We have it just for us! The opportunity to enjoy a moment with your feet in the water.
But we don't stop there, we continue towards the Pointe du Château Parlant. Here, it's time to take out the camera for a nice shot on theArguenon !
For the most observant, you may see the Château du Val d'Arguenon on the other side!
Authentic walk in the village of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer
We take the main road towards the town of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer! Here, we wander between the small streets with a unique atmosphere... Between the terraces, the restaurants of Saint-Jacut and the shops, we notice that the houses are aligned lengthwise... This is to protect from the wind, a resident explains to us! Unanimously, we decided to sit on the terrace to enjoy a gourmet coffee under the sun.
On leaving, we pass in front of the Abbey of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, a former Benedictine abbey. If today it can no longer be visited (it is a reception house), it is always a pleasure to observe this monument which dates from the XNUMXth century!
Find our perfect spot to enjoy our picnic! We are voting to settle in the small port of Houle Causseul in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer! Between the boats and the lapping water, what more could you ask for for a picnic in the great outdoors?
By talking with the regulars, they will explain to you that the peninsula of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer was once an island, which lived on ray and mackerel fishing.
Stroll from the tip of the bedside to the Ébihens archipelago
We were waiting for it, the magnificent walk that starts from the Pointe du Chevet and goes to theEbihens Archipelago. In the program ? Nature, disconnection and postcard settings! Something to make more than one dream of! If the Ébihens Archipelago is Brittany's well-guarded treasure, it has to be earned: it is only accessible to low tide. So before leaving, we remember to check the tide times so as not to be surprised.
Equipped with waterproof shoes and a bottle of water, we set off for the hike in the heart of breathtaking nature! First step, we go down the rocks (we can also choose another path) which quickly bring us to the sand. After a few minutes, we reach the archipelago!
Better than the picture, you have to see it to believe it: the landscapes are heavenly ! To survey Les Ébihens, it's easy, just follow the main path which takes us to meet the Vauban Tower or magnificent viewpoints on the coast, the fine sandy beaches and the sea as far as the eye can see...
From where to take a beautiful picture of the Ebihens Archipelago?
For a superb view of Saint-Jacut, head for the Pointe de la Garde in Saint-Cast-Le-Guildo! From this small district adorned with beautiful villas, it is a panorama that guarantees you a magnificent photo of the archipelago and Saint-Jacut.
Farniente on one of the 11 fine sandy beaches
Back to the peninsula of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer to end the day in style! And here, we have the choice to put our toes in a fan: there are no less than 11 sandy beaches that run along the coast of the peninsula.
To the west, the beaches open onto the bay of Arguenon, while to the east, you can settle down in the hollow of the bay of Lancieux… Enough to organize a great afternoon of swimming with friends! For us, this is where we sit to admire the landscape and the sunset.
